2. Brevis ipsa vita est sed malis fit longior. Life is short but misfortunes make it longer.
3. alma mater, an institution of learning as referred to by its former students, i.e. the school you graduated from. Literally it means “fostering mother”.
4. Dum spiro, spero. While I breathe, I hope.
5. Ad astra per aspera. To the stars through difficulties.
6. Amantes sunt amentes. Lovers are lunatics.
7. Amantium irae amoris integratio est. A lovers’ quarrel is the renewal of love.
8. Credula res amor est. Love is a credulous thing.
9. Omnia vincit amor; et nos cedamus amori. Love conquers all; let us too yield to love.
10. Nosce te ipsum. Know thyself.
11. Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori. It is a sweet and proper thing to die for one’s country.
12. Dimidium facti qui coepit habet. He who has begun has the work half done.
13. Beneficium accipere libertatem est vendere. To accept a favor is to sell one’s freedom.
14. Cineri gloria sera est. Glory paid to ashes comes too late.
15. Damnant quod non intellegunt. They condemn what they do not understand.
16. De gustibus non est disputandum. There’s no accounting for taste.
17. Omnia mutantur, nos et mutamur in illis. All things change, and we change with them.
18. Facta non verba. Deeds, not words.
19. Omnium enim rerum principia parva sunt. The beginnings of all things are small.
20. Mens sana in corpore sano. A sound mind in a sound body.

the idea that your friends won't like you if you're too weird is wrong for example one time I told a friend whenever I was losing my mind I laid down on the floor under my desk and stared at it until I was better and next time she visited me she taped a bag of salami snacks to the underside of my desk with a message saying "going insane all by yourself, handsome?" which I only saw months later when I had a breakdown. that's friendship.
